While investing, it's always better to invest in quality firms rather than going for cheaper shares. Always remember that if the shares are cheap for a company there is a a reason for it.

11. Facebook | Should I Invest on Facebook Share?

Facebook have been growing by leaps and bounds since the last few years. There are confusing talks whether to invest in Facebook shares or not. However, comparing with many other new companies to invest in, Facebook is definitely an excellent option. We might get a little over-exaggerated at this point as many of us may be frequent users and could have an emotional soft-side about its valuation. So let's see the fact that would help us take a decision:

  • The Facebook is valued at $100 billion which is twice as much as Boeing and thrice as much as Starbucks.
  • Facebook's margin will remain 30%.
  • Facebook has an average monthly users count of 1 billion.

However, it is advisable not to fall for the initial frenzy for grabbing facebook shares in the first week after the IPO. There is still lot sweet time of your's to watch the game and speculate where things are going. May be after the stock price and market competition stabilizes you could clearly take a decision on investing in facebook.

I think Altria (MO) is a great company to invest in, in today's market. I'm no smoker, but no matter what happens in the economy, people will still need their smokes. The price of the share doesn’t fluctuate much, but the company currently pays $1.64 per share, per year, which is a yield of 6.05%.

A good area to invest in might be the "rare earths." That is if you have any trust in the stock market system which I would caution against. Check my articles on the subject if interested. They seem to be doing well since I wrote that and look to continue doing so for at least the short-term. I'd be careful about saying that the recession is almost over as it probably is just the beginning of things to come, but we are one and you can use your energy to overcome the evil forces.

Interesting and useful list. I have mixed feelings about Google, but there's no doubt that they are a major player and constantly innovating!

Google is something that always aims for the future. Recently they took the patent for driver-less cars ( implies significant importance given to the future) . From my research its worth investing :)

Good info here. I tend to like "Dividend Aristocrats" and biotech myself. I also make some extra cash selling covered call options (in fact, I have a hub on option trading.) Good call on Facebook; I think the frenzy surrounding the IPO will be obscene.

My husband and I have been looking to invest since ,when I had my accident, I was a teacher. I was forced to cash out my pension,or lose it.Same with my life insurance. All gone. Lately, I have been thinking, we can afford cruises, big vacations once a year with family or just my husband son and I. I want to still do vacations with our teenage son ,due to his focus not being on gaming, while on vacation. I know he's an only child and thats his connection to his friend after school. We have always tried to be educational as well as fun too. Vegas twice lol not so educational, except for learning it was built and in some instances still has mob ties. There is alot of history about Vegas and the mob. Last year, We went to Mt Rushmore, Crazy horse. The year before Grand Canyon and and places in between as we are usually driving or in my mother in laws motor home.we have a camper as well. This year is more fun than educational,we are going on a cruise to the ruins of Mexico , Belize, Cayman Islands etc. However we are young and still have a good 25-30 years left to travel. We NEED to find a way to invest in your retirement, something safe. We aren't trying to get rich, just have a little money safely tucked away and growing at the same time. So starting next Jan I am going to invest in something and I am studying what hubbers like you have to say, since I know nothing!I am spending THIS year learning to invest.
